This is a non-auditioned choir for Year 7 and 8 students.  Students begin regular weekly rehearsals in Term 1.  They prepare repertoire for school concerts, assemblies, masses and compete at The Kids Sing Choir Festival in September. In 2023 and 2024 the Sophia Choir were proud to win a Silver Award at The Kids Sing.

Cost:

Covered by the $150 Junior Music Group fee.

Rehearsals:

Thursday mornings 7.30am to 8.30am in the Music Foyer.

Commitment:

Attendance at weekly rehearsals.

Dr Erin Atchison

Dr Erin Atchison is an English teacher and director of choirs at Baradene College, but she is also a choral singer, published academic and occasional radio presenter. A current member of Voices New Zealand and the Auckland Chamber Choir, she has sung in chamber and cathedral choirs in Scotland, Canada and New Zealand. Erin has a music degree from the University of Auckland and a PhD in English from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. When she’s not teaching and taking choirs at Baradene, Erin researches the role of the amateur musician in literature and can also be heard on RNZ Concert announcing the Auckland Philharmonia concerts live from the Auckland Town Hall.
