Students who perform at a very high level in standardised testing are offered a Learning Enrichment programme which is managed by Barbara Hughes, our Learning Enrichment teacher.
The girls are encouraged to join our Future Problem Solving groups, participate in the NIWA Auckland Science and Technology Fair and take an active role in sustainability projects. The Year 7 group have a focus on environmental sustainability that involves composting and recycling. Our Year 9 and 10 groups gain a better understanding of sustainability and conservation best practice through their field trips to Tiritiri Matangi and Rotoroa Island. The Year 10 group participates in the Nationwide Outlook for Someday Film Challenge. Participation in the ICAS examinations and Maths competitions is also encouraged.
Our Year 8 Enrichment Group, as part of their Enrichment programme, visit Kelly Tarlton’s to learn about marine diversity and management of the coastal environment.
Differentiation and the use of multiple teaching strategies engage these students and ensure a balance of surface, deep and conceptual learning.
